The two biggest blog engines Wordpress and Blogger both have different advantages. As of today my favourite must be WP and I'll try to give a few reasons why.
Wordpress offers much more search engine friendly blogs. Google tend to like wordpress better even though blogger is now a part of the Google network. One of the reasons for this is the better structure of the tagging. Wordpress tags better then Blogger does. Another reason is that you can actually get links from the Wordpress frontpage if you have a popular blog and this means much for the search engines.
I prefer to use the Wordpress software and not the wordpress host since the limitations are quite extensive on the host, you can't have any ads or to much traffic. Have gotten a few blogs banned from wordpress due to heavy traffic and I really don't want to pay the $300 they want you to pay to be allowed to have a high traffic blog.
Another reason I dislike Blogger is that the community is quite spammy, there are lots and lots of spam blogs and that gives the rest of us a bad name. Better to go with WP and at least give the illusion of being a first class blog.
Compare these with Blogster then?
Well, this is my first Blogster blog but so far I like it. It doesn't have the search engine friendliness of Wordpress but on the other hand it's very easy to start. I like it so far and I like the idea of presenting articles as snippets on the front page, something neither Blogger or Wordpress can give you. Unless you do some serious Haxxing of your WP Templates.
